Helping businesses achieve energy efficiency by turning things off.

What makes Revert smart plugs unique?

Smart plugs exist. To coordinate and automate thousands of them for the purpose of energy saving and facility management is what makes our technology unique. From hardware to software, Revert's plug load management solution is purpose built for enterprises: we have the added cyber security, intelligence, precision, integrations, and load capacity that empowers a small facility team to manage a large network of equipment across many buildings.

Our Journey

Revert's journey began in winter 2022, with a successful Kickstarter campaign that brought our patented Teak Smart Cube to the smart home market. As a multi-outlet smart surge protector, Teak is designed for residential applications and proudly made in Maine. In 2023, we launched the single outlet Acorn Smart Plug for commercial applications and have since unified Teak and Acorn under one plug load management system and brand: Revert Technologies.

FAQs

Why plug load management?

Electricity has gotten expensive. The quickest and simplest way to save electricity is to turn power hungry equipment off when you don't need it. To do so, we created a network of learning smart plugs that knows when to turn power off and back on without getting in the way of normal business operations. Doing so, we empower facility managers to take control of plug load and unlock new pathways to energy saving.

Electronic equipment leeching power when it is turned off ("phantom load") has been a widely recognized problem by the scientific community. We started off solving this problem with backing and support from the Department of Energy, Berkeley National Lab, New York State Energy Research Development Authority, and the Exelon Climate Change Foundation. What we found after measuring thousands of appliances in homes, schools, hotels, gyms, and offices is that equipment is often left fully on overnight, weekends, breaks, and holidays. Some are hard to turn off, like empty mini fridges in hotel rooms or Airbnb properties. This energy waste is far greater than phantom load. Our approach is rooted in science and data driven.
