The hotel combo that wastes $7.9 per month

Before Revert started turning off empty mini fridges and microwaves in unbooked hotel rooms, this energy-guzzling combo would consume anywhere from 1.7 kWh to 2.1 kWh of electricity per day. The lion's share of usage came from the mini fridge, which drew anywhere between 60 watts and 90 watts and occasionally peaked to 300 watts during compression.
Turning this hotel room combo off easily saved 2 kWh of energy per day if the room was unbooked. Even during periods with high room turnover, we kept the combo powered off until the guest shows up at or after 3 pm. Like the results shown in the graph, where that 2kWh of baseline usage was reduced by 65% to 0.71 kWh, realizing 1.29 kWh in energy savings that day.
Consider a California hotel where the electricity rate is easily $0.33 per kWh and the monthly average vacancy rate is 40%. The savings we delivered by turning this room combo off with the Revert Smart Plugs during times the room became vacant were $7.9 per month (2kWh per day x 30 days per month x 40% vacancy x $0.33 per kWh). Annually that's $95 per room.
Each Revert Smart Plug deployed on the hotel combo will save:
-
$95 per year. - This is the amount you no longer need to pay the utility company.
It might sound small, but consider a hotel with 100 rooms. Over slow months where vacancy is 60%, the dollar savings can stack up to $1,000 or more. Results may vary depending on your electricity and occupancy rate, so consult a Revert expert to get the most accurate quote.
